How did you meet your partner? Tell us about your love story…
We met the modern way, following a right swipe in 2016. He was my first and only Tinder date. We got engaged in 2020 at the top of Mt Isthmus. I had my suspicions that it was going to happen on our South Island holiday. It was an easy yes!
Tell us about your wedding day, your vision and the style…
With everything else we had going on at the same time as wedding planning (we bought a house the week of our wedding), we knew we just couldn’t do a DIY wedding. We quickly realised we needed a venue that did everything for us and as soon as we visited Mudbrick we knew it was where we would get married. It was the also the first venue we visited! We wanted our wedding to have a modern, timeless feel and classic black and white embodies that. We also wanted to match the rustic yet elegant decor of Mudbrick. Other than that we just wanted everyone to have an amazing time, celebrate with us and party hard!
What Chaos & Harmony Shoes did you purchase for your wedding and how did the shoes make you feel?
Gold Brilliance Pumps. As we had a black and white theme I wanted to introduce a touch of colour. Shoes were the perfect way to do that. My dress had a front split (which is one of the things I loved most about it) so whatever shoes I wore were going to be seen a lot, so needed to be bold. I chose a pointed toe shoe so the shoes would make themselves seen through the split as I walked. It was also a non-negotiable that I wore a pair of shoes with a block heel as I knew we’d be on the dance floor from the bands first to last song. Stilettos are not very dance floor conjusive!
The shoes made me feel amazing! They suited my dress perfectly, looked stunning and were so comfortable.
Did the suit or shoes come first and how did you style them with the dress?
The dress. I found the style of dress I wanted really quickly then a friend told me about another friend of hers who’d had her wedding dress made by RITUAL by Brooke Tyson. Brooke made my dress and she was amazing! Highly recommend getting a dress custom made as it means it is perfectly fitted to your body and highly recommend Brooke!
Finding the right shoes was so much harder than finding a dress. Especially because my shoes were going to be so visible because of the split in my dress. None of the shoes I tried on felt quite right and I still didn’t have my shoes at my second to last dress fitting. When I tried on the Gold Brilliance Pumps I knew they were the ones. I just wish I had tried them on earlier as it would have saved me a lot of stress!
Did you buy the shoes with the intention to wear them again? If so, have you?
Yes, I haven’t yet but I will absolutely wear them again! They will look amazing with dressed, skirts, pants and even dressed down with jeans.
Anything else you’d like to mention?
My bridesmaids also wore the Goldie Heels. Other than the black theme they had free rein on their dresses and shoes and Chaos and Harmony was their obvious choice. The gold buckles perfectly suited the theme, the gold of my shoes and their earrings. They confirmed their shoes were super comfortable as well!
