Alice and Jaden wearing the Swoon Heel in Antique
How did you meet your partner? Tell us about your love story…
Jaden and I met down in Dunedin whilst he was on a boys trip from Christchurch and I was out celebrating my graduation as a Nurse. It was a very fun night and I managed to convince him for his number. We organised a date the next weekend and hit off straight away. What started as a casual fling before I went to work in Australia, led to long distance for 2 years before I moved back to live in Christchurch with him. We bought our first home together and welcomed our adorable sausage dog, Stanley all just before the first covid lock down. And the rest is history, getting married after 7 years together.
Tell us about your wedding day, your vision and the style…
We wanted a classic formal, timeless wedding that was fun for us and our guests. We did a first look to help us ease the nerves on the day and had majority of our photos taken during this time so we could spend more time with our guests after the ceremony. We wanted a white wedding and I followed tradition of ‘something blue’ in my bridesmaid dresses and their flowers, our bridal car and the bed of flowers the cake sat in. Jaden and I love music so chose a great local band, who managed to get everyone up dancing and they were a real highlight of the night. We wanted to make sure the venue we chose did amazing food, and wow did The Red Barn do that. Their chef is super talented and made the yummiest food, our guests complimented on the food all evening, the dessert donuts being everyone’s highlight. The Red Barn did amazing at making our wedding vision really came to light.
What Chaos & Harmony Shoes did you purchase for your wedding and how did the shoes make you feel?
I chose the swoon heel in antique. I wanted a comfortable, low heel and in a colour I would wear again. The swoon heel was perfect, I wore them all day and night and danced in them seamlessly. I didn’t wear them in much before the wedding and was worried I wouldn’t last in them for the whole day but I did and not one blister was in sight at the end of the night. The shoes gave me the perfect height and looked great when the split in my dress exposed them. Such a classic shoe, fitting with the look I wanted, and made me feel very elegant.
Did the suit or shoes come first and how did you style them with the dress?
The shoe came first, I knew it would go with any dress I chose but I didn’t purchase them till after I chose the dress. I wasn’t sure if I wanted them in blue or antique. I’m pleased I chose antique because I have worn them again to other weddings and events and get compliments on them every time, the best heel purchase I’ve ever made. Well worth the money spent with how much wear I have got out of them.
