Nathan + Sophie wearing the Evermore Heel in Snow
How did you meet your partner? Tell us about your love story…
We meet at the under18 South Island rowing team trials and became friends. I moved into his flat about 3 years later and became best friends and the rest is history.
On my 28th birthday 31st March 2020 a few days into lockdown he got down on one knee and popped the question, then spent the next 6 weeks designing my engagement ring!
Nine years officially together we got our magical wedding day and we also have a baby on the way.
Tell us about your wedding day, your vision and the style…
We wanted a country, relaxed, bright, fun and mix of DIY wedding with bits of ourselves and relationship threaded throughout. We really wanted to do the flowers ourselves as my mum has a huge peony garden, unfortunately we postponed and it was out of season by then but she has an incredible green thumb and dried lots of the peonies for us to use in arrangements which went into the aisle and the large hanging main table piece and even in the arch. Then we had so many friends and family donate us in-season flowers all colours to use in the archway and table which my talented friend Enika created.
We had part of a rowing boat for our lawn drinks to incorporate our years rowing together for NZ. We got married on the front lawn where I grew up which was so special and had the reception in the woolshed which had a rustic vibe, my brothers made the tables and we hired wooden cross-back chairs for the complete rustic vibe.
What Chaos & Harmony Shoes did you purchase for your wedding and why?
I chose the Evermore High Heel in Snow. I have small ankle and these ones suited me. I just felt these were the ones and I loved them!
How did the shoes make you feel?
Pretty and paired with the dress, I felt like a princess, Cinderella for the day. Honestly they were so comfortable and not as hard as you’d think walking in heels on the rocks up the mountain.
Did the suit or shoes come first and how did you style them with the dress?
The shoes were the first thing I brought for the wedding because I knew I always wanted them. But I was also doing some retail therapy that weekend away. I brought them nearly two years before we finally got hitched!
Did you buy the shoes with the intention to wear them again? If so, have you?
Yes I did… but I did the splits in them on the dance floor and ruined the backs of them whoops!
