Nordean + Shari wearing the Chichi Heel in Snow

How did you meet your partner? Tell us about your love story…

We knew each other through mutual work, but it was me (Shari) who instigated it all. Nordean had actually bought a pair of runners that were too small for him and asked me if I wanted them. I thought this was some grand gesture (he claims it wasn’t).

A few nights later we went to see a mutual friends band play at a pub in the city, and I was really trying to get his attention!A few days after that he (indirectly) asked me to be his girlfriend, he moved in a couple of weeks later, we were engaged a year or so after that!

Tell us about your wedding day, your vision and the style…

Our original plan was a big traditional wedding, we both are one of six children in our families, so the guest list would have been well into the hundreds. We had a contract ready to go to book in at a winery in the Yarra Valley- and decided not to at the last second.

We started the discussion about eloping, we listed the pros and cons and decided that’s what we wanted to do. I still wanted all the bells and whistles that comes with a traditional wedding, the flowers, the dress, she shoes. So we were married in an intimate ceremony on the balcony of our suite at the Langham. With just 2 witnesses present. It had been raining all day, and just as I was about to walk out the sun started beaming down on us from above- like something from a movie. I surprised my husband with a violinist, the incredibly talented Evangeline Victoria- to serenade me down the aisle and play some of our favourite songs. He has always said he wouldn’t cry on our wedding day- but this bought him to tears! Success!

After we were married we headed down stairs to take some photos, and then we headed to dinner where we surprised my parents with the news. We rang our other loved ones on FaceTime to let them know too!Everyone was so surprised, shocked and just over the moon for us.My vision was classic, lots of white, and a hint of winter whimsical.Really clean, fresh, simple makeup and slicked back hair.I wanted the day to reflect us and the easiness of our relationship. And it did perfectly. The day was totally perfect, simple and stress free, just how we wanted it.

What Chaos & Harmony Shoes did you purchase for your wedding and how did the shoes make you feel?

I bought the Chichi heel in snow feather. As soon as I saw them I knew they were the ones for me. They were simple yet quirky, I wanted the main focus to be on the dress, and the shoes allowed that to happen but at the same time, let me add a bit of my personality and uniqueness to the entire look.

I felt like Elsa from the movie frozen! I felt like I was walking around on clouds, the shoes are elegant and really helped elevate my winter whimsical vision! They were the perfect height- as I am a little taller than my husband, I didn’t feel like I was towering over him, which was something that I was really looking for in a wedding shoe.

They were super comfortable and I was able to keep them on all day and night.

Did the suit or shoes come first and how did you style them with the dress?

The dress was first! Similarly to how I knew the shoes were the ones, I knew the dress was when I saw it for the first time. The dress is elegant and timeless with a modern twist. There is a large split down the leg which allows the shoes to shine. I just knew they would complement each other so well, without muting out the other, and they absolutely did that!

Did you buy the shoes with the intention to wear them again? If so, have you?

I bought them especially for the wedding- but they are so versatile I could absolutely wear them again. I think it would be super special to wear them every anniversary- and on special occasions, like when we have a baby- to their christening!

Anything else you’d like to mention?

I am wiring the answers to these questions from our hotel room in London, we’ve just had the most incredible time in Paris and we still have a couple more destinations to enjoy our honeymoon before we head back to the real world! We really love how we deceived to celebrate our marriage and I would encourage anyone to follow their hearts and do what’s right for them- your wedding is about YOU and your partner, please yourselves- not others! They’ll get over it!
