How did you meet your partner? Tell us about your love story…
We were both part of a church start up in Auckland when we met and at the time, we were both studying the same thing. We then went on to run a small group together and got to know one another better. I had a crush on him, but we both thought the other wasn’t interested due to our age gap. Reuel then asked me out and on our first date he had prepared a list of all the reasons why we would be great together. I knew then that I was going to marry him someday.
Tell us about your wedding day, your vision and the style…
I had always wanted the wedding to be a ‘one stop’ day, no need for everyone to travel between the ceremony and reception, instead everyone can just mingle and enjoy the space and time together. We were also working with intertwining our two cultures, so we decided to have a western ceremony and an Indian reception. Family was also a big part and focus of our day, Reuel’s Dad married us and both sets of parents and grandparents prayed for us, our siblings were part of our wedding party, plus my nieces made for some cute flower girls. Everything was intentional, we had our story written on the back of menus, we wrote letters to each of our guests on their name cards, a truck that provided fries after the wedding, we choregraphed two dances and Reuel even wrote a song. We wanted our people to feel part of our special day and to honour them for what they have done for us in our lives
What Chaos & Harmony Shoes did you purchase for your wedding and how did the shoes make you feel?
I purchased the Eternal Heel in Powder Blue. I knew I wanted to have some colour come through, and the Powder Blue was subtle, but fun, and I knew I would be able to wear them again with different outfits. The shoes were incredibly comfortable, I was able to dance the night away in them!
Did the suit or shoes come first and how did you style them with the dress?
I had three outfits for the big day, and I wanted them to each be as great as the other. For my third outfit I wanted something fun but elegant for the dancing. After finding the perfect dress I knew the Eternal heels would go perfectly and provide something different to the other two outfits. As the dress was shorter, I wanted shoes that could stand out, but compliment the dress.
Did you buy the shoes with the intention to wear them again? If so, have you?
Absolutely! Haven’t worn them yet due to the cooler temperatures, but I know I will be pulling them out in the summer, hopefully for another boogie or two.
